We are building a fictional world for a game called ExpenseRPG. This world is a parody of other science fiction franchises. The setting of the present day in this world lampoons Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, and the Expanse. Events from the world's history are a mash up of the collective works of Issac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Ursula LeGuinn, Philip K. Dick, Arthur Conan Doyle, H.G. Wells, H.P. Lovecraft, and Douglas Adams. This world's history split from the history of the real world in late 1700s. Humanity discovered radiation in the mid 1800s, and a fascination of the Occult developed alongside of Quantum Mechanics to produce a cosmology known as Chromodynamics. The use a mix of magic and technology known as Tegic. The great war of 1904-1918 destroyed civilization. The war was ended by a supernatural being known as "Mel". He intervened, through his celestial emissaries, to end the fighting and serve humanity it's eviction notice. Throughout the mid 20th century, humanity fled to surface of the Earth and settled across the Solar System. summarize this passage, and combine it with the knowledge in the other files, and compose a short passage to introduce the world to a player. Note: All faction names are derived from military wargame antagonist designations. The Krasnovians are a race who dominate the surface of the Moon, and have since expanded their control to similar moons in orbit around the Gas Giants. Their culture is a mashup of the Klingons from Star Trek, EngSoc from 1984, the Empire from Star Wars, the Earth Government from Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers", and the Revolutionaries from Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". Their society is broken up into dozens of Ministries. But at this point, through duplication of effort, each Ministry now has its own armed forces, space navy, construction corps, secret police, and intelligence service. Each ministry is a Fascist Authoritarian Dictatorship, with ambitious underlings moving up in the corporate ladder by ousting or assassinating their superiors. Krasnovian society is an authoritarian state which is based loosely on the ideas of military culture. On the surface Krasnovian society is run by a set of ministries. Each ministry has a "Director", below the director are the "Officers", the "Officers" command the "Managers" and the Managers command the "Workers." In the beginning, each of these ministries had a specific job (Agriculture, Navy, Army, Construction, Logistics, Intelligence, Morale, Research) but over time they and the process of duplicative effort, each has evolved into a sort of nation within a nation. Members of each "Team" root for their own ministry, and attempt to sabotage the work of the other ministries. Cost shifting and waste were so rampant that Krasnovian society created the office of the Comptroller. Because of the inherent trust society placed in that office, it can only be filled by clones of the same individual. The Comptroller's office has free reign to audit the books of any Ministry of the Krasnovian empire, and meet out justice to punish fraud, theft, or abuse. They particularly dislike when a Ministry attempts to shift costs on either another Ministry or their own workers. "The Comptroller", who wields tremendous power over all of the directors and officers of the other Ministries. Generally by maintaining detailed records of compromising information about all of the senior leadership. If the Comptroller dies, retires, or is otherwise rendered incapacitated, another one of the clones is selected at random to be the next Comptroller. Thus, it pays to be nice to any Auditor one encounters, because you never know which one will be in charge one day. The Circle Trigonists are an different faction. They have a common history with the Krasnovians. The Circle Trigonists are the intellectuals, merchants, magic users, and business owners who fled from the revolution that put the Krasnovians in charge. The inhabit massive space stations scattered throughout the inner system. Their settlements are positioned in ideal locations to exploit solar power, as well as to control lines of communication throughout the inner system. Each station is run by its own government. Styles of government vary from dystopian corporate states, to monarchies, to democracies, to kleptocracies headed by crime lords. Circle Trigonist Culture is intended to poke fun at corporate dystopias like Altered Carbon, Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, and the Expanse All Circle Trigonist is a culture of feuding is united by a common court system. The case law is so arbitrary and complex that judges regularly require the assistance of an artificial intelligence to properly analyze it. The person with the most power in Circle Trigonist culture is the head judge of the courts. He or She wields no actual political power. However, if you have a case in front of the courts, having the head judge on your side in the matter goes far to grease the wheels, so to speak. The Agri-stats of the Circle Trigonists are the bread basket of the solar system. Their economy is dominated by agriculture, manufactured goods, and banking. Their stations are limited to orbits around the Sun that are inside the orbit of Mars, per the Treaty of Reykjavík, which ended the Solar war of 1948. The Circle Trigonists do not have a central military. There is a small fleet that carries out the edicts of the courts. Every station and nation in the Circle Trigonists territory maintains its own armed forces. Which are generally the same sort of tiny frigates the OPFOR uses. Often built in the same shipyards. The Organization of Planetary and Freespace Operations and Resettlement (OPFOR) are a chaotic federation of space stations and inhabited minor planets outside the orbit of Mars, but not in orbit around a major planet. The overall vibe of OPFOR culture and politics is that of a Refugee Agency that ended up in charge of a federal government, a space program, and an space navy. Most OPFOR settlements are in the Asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter. The OPFOR is made up of the surviving population of Earth. They are a spoof of the Federation in Star Trek. Their navy is massive. Not in the number of ships. But in the size of them. They have turned entire minor planets into battle stations. But as this consumed all of their allotted tonnage under various arms limitation treaties, the rest of their fleet have to be frigates too tiny to be considered a capital ship, at least by tonnage. The OPFOR is a post-scarcity culture built around socialism. But this leads to a completely different sort of oppression than in other parts of the Solar System: Home Owners Associations. Safety regulations and zoning ordinances so onerous that people often have to consult an AI to answer basic questions about compliance. And if there are competing claims, it is not uncommon for both sides to bring in a software engineer to put their clients case before the machine. Software engineers who act in this role have to be specially credentialed, and swear an oath against entering in false data. Basically they are lawyers.
